"Precious metals have had value in all civilizations, have survived all financial crises, and can be expected to do the same in the future.       However, it is to all investors' interests that they know what they are doing before investing in precious metals."

CMI strives to avoid hype while attempting to provide honest market evaluations; we recommend only those precious metals investments that we believe will benefit our clients.  CMI suggests investors avoid overpriced, highly-promoted numismatic coins whose gold content are worth but a fraction of their prices.  CMI promises low prices, prompt delivery, and confidential transactions.  We do not offer storage. not offer storage.

Other Rat Years are 1996, 1984, 1972, 1960, 1948, 1936, 1924, 1912, and 1900.The Year of the Rat  kicks off the repeating Lunar Calendar, and the Perth Mint wisely began its Lunar Series with the Year of the Rat, which is first year in the Lunar Calendar.

Production of the 1-oz Gold Rats was limited to 30,000 coins; however, the cap has been not hit, and under the legislation that authorized the Lunar Series coins, the Perth Mint can produce the coins until the 30,000 limit is reached. This policy enables collectors, for which the Lunar Coins are made, to put together complete sets at prices close to the spot price of gold, even if they do not learn about the coins until years later.

Because the Perth Mint is still producing the Year of the Rat 1-oz gold coins, they are relatively cheap, for collector coins, selling a few dollars above the 1-oz Gold Eagles, the most popular gold bullion coins. The Perth Mint does not disclose mintage figures, so how many Gold Rats remain is not known.

People whose birth years are 1996, 1984, 1972, 1960, 1948, 1936, 1924, 1912, and 1900 were born in the Year of the Rat.
